Prayer

A light shown down from heaven

Upon the place I stood

And God cried down upon me

A single drop of blood.

He cried for His world of children

A tear for you and me

A toneless note, a tuneless song

Where there should be harmony.

And then God showed me how to wipe

His precious tear away”

Teach mankind how to love

Then teach him how to pray.

Rebirth

Upon a bed, I laid my head

And closed my weary eyes,

And dreamed about a lovely place

I’ll call it “Paradise.”

God ws there, I saw his face

He beckoned—closer, Dear.

Frightened was I bet he reached his hand out

To draw me near.

He said my time was over there

My job fulfilled at last,

And all the suffering of my years

Was finally in the past.

Now try again to do your job

Always with honor and pride,

Then a doctor with a powerful hand

Spanked me

and I cried....

The Moon

I am the moon and from here I see

An earth—full of misery.

I’ve seen it since the earth unfurled

Man has totally ruined the world!

And now men want to come to me

They’ve wanted to since birth.

Why can’t they just leave me alone

And clean up the mess they’ve made on earth?

GAME OF LIFE

Life is just a little game

That people love to play

Look around and you’ll see them

Playing “life” everyday.

Go to Europe—go out west

If you take a notion

Fly a rocket to the moon

A ship across the ocean.

Playing spies at Watergate

Was really quite a show.

We’ll change another President

As soon as we “pass go.”

Let’s see who can pollute the best

Or smog the air the most

Who really cares about this place

“I live for me,” we boast!

Let’s take over another nation

“Checkmate,” yells one to the other,

As he pushes a button to an Atom Bomb,

The

Game of

Life

Is

Over….

I have been dabbling in Haiku (as you will see, I use that term loosely) lately and wondered if you’d be interested in seeing some of it?

Under the lamp post

Two moths dance…

Light not wasted

Hundreds of flowers

Just ripe for the taking

But the butterfly died

Escaping at night

From behind the bars

The prisoner’s mind

That which I feared

Is here…

…Hello

A horn on his nose

But he can’t play a note

Rhinoceros

She died from the gunshot

With bloodstained hands

At least the doctor tried

My wedding veil

Packed away

With our vows

I hung our dirty

Laundry out

And no one even noticed

Skeletons are in my closet

But I’ve forgotten who they are

Groundhog peeks out

February 3rd

Nobody cares

The bird in my hand

Sees two

In the bush

Don’t walk barefoot

Beware

The blades of grass!
