It was on a day when the sun’s ray
streamed through the clouds to a blessing place
deep in the woods where my feet did stray
leaving the path with nary a trace
to tell my homefolk that I had been there
bending and climbing to make myself free…
to leave behind all my worldly care.
It was on that day grace came for me.
A funnel of light appeared from the sky
and came to rest on an open of ground
turning this earth to a holy-on-high
a pilgrim place where guidance is found.
Kneeling in this light, my soul found release –
troubles still come but this light does not cease.
