A Poem for the Life

by Dr. Ashok T Chakravarthy (India)

I have seen

Much life of this world

Afraid …

I question, am I blind?

Of course …

You too stand a mute spectator

Ignorant of the happenings around.

The invaluable human lives

The beautiful natural resources

The scintillating and rotund moon

The smooth flowing silent rivers

How peaceful they look!

How pretty they resemble!

The drizzle of the rainy season

The song of the Koel during spring

The evening wind blow during summer

The shining dew at the dawn of winter,

I have been a witness to these delights

Sparing year after year with hesitation.

‘cause on the other side of this delight

I find violent and unimaginable plight

An undernourished child, a starving mother

A devoid life, midst poverty and fears

Slowly drift through an era of illusions, yes

Seasons change, but not the human values

Who’s going to infuse the lacking instinct.
