MY NEW HOME

by Maria Remedios “Dette” Kaplan-Brown

Just when I thought that clear was the color of day
You came to me glorious as a rainbow
Vibrant like the sun, free like a wave
Inhabiting my days, my nights
Pushing aside all dreams but of you.

Just when I thought I had stopped writing songs
And the sounds of my life were but a quiet hum
You roused the poet out of sleep
Coaxed the music from within
Recalled a voice that was long dissipated.

Just when I thought that it all made sense
Finally hitting every goal, every dream
You broke the prison of my beliefs
Turned all premises upside down
And welcomes me into your world, my new home.
