IN A DARK PLACE

By: Judy Hardin Cheung

There is a place in my mind
that sometimes needs a dark place to rest--
a place to absorb the somberness of this world
into the brightness of my reality,
a place where my preferences may be indistinct
but my choices are evident,
where I can choose between light and lovely
or dark and unbalanced,
or merge all aspects into unity.
I do not use this place very often.
But I am glad to have it
and that I can find it when I am in need.
