SHIPS ON THE HARBOUR

by Bianca Beatriz Yuzon-Henares

You scaled the walls
With the tides you caused
When you sank to me
There was nothing in between

And the ships
On the harbour
They would leave
They wouldn’t return
And the ships on the harbour
Would sail the earth/beyond

Won’t you stay?
But you weren’t made for solid ground
So I wait
Praying for you to come back down

I still recall how we kept each other warm
But the sea winds would creep
Through the window in your sleep

Oh the ships on the harbour
They would leave
They wouldn’t return
And the ships on the harbour
Would sail the earth
