FROZEN

by Tsutomu Sakai

Something will drop down with a click
Over there: beyond the glass cracked

It all clears out
The sky will have an avalanche

In my room I hear
No sounds: even in a sway

Yet carefree a God Silence
Has illuminated us in the village
Already: so bright

Something is clicking down
But there: to nothing fearful

*Translator’s Note: The Poet lives in the Japan Alps area, with much snow in the winter: so cold and freezing.

The thick snow will absorb any sounds.
