THE HEROES INVISIBLE

by Eva Tabaosares Kohr (USA)

May I join the heroes invisible.
They are the unsung, the unheard and yet they live again.
In hearts and minds made better by their presence.
Live in pulses stirred to generosity.
In deeds of daring rectitude.
In thoughts sublime that pierce the night like stars.
And with their mild persuasions, urge men,
To search for vaster issues greater than themselves...
In scorn for aims that end with self.
To subdue the rebellious flesh.
To stand for truths, no matter the cost.
These are the heroes invisible.
Who left their mark for us who strive to follow.
They make undying music in the world.
With yearning songs, sweeter than words.
In silent deeds that speak of voices,
Thrice eloquent.
