MEMENTOS

by Lucia Orellana Damacela

Containers, receptacles for things
to be preserved, counted, treasured.
Stored instants, receded surprises,
topics in lethargy, an Acheron crossed,
Nirvana of the minutia, the eternet of things,
dated, undated, object memory.
Frontispieces, beheaded presents
on the tabernacle of time.
Scents with decanted appeal.
Nothing like the smell of camphor
to abhor perdurability and the idea
that holding stale things ransom
equals to owning the moment.
