THE WEDDING OF DAY AND NIGHT

by Katharine Wilson

Dawn Day lifted the shade
And rose from the other side of the world
In a soft pink gown,
Then clad in clear bright blue,
She gave her guests a radiant smile.
She peered through a cirrus cloud
And strolled west across the sky
To the edge of the ocean.
Across the horizon, she pulled a cloak
Striped red, gold, purple, and green.
Behind her the Black Knight chased after her,
Throwing a deep blue robe ahead of him,
Snaring her gold medallion when it touched the water.
One sky diamond sealed their pledge.
The bride dropped her robe,
And they embraced below the surf.
After a honeymoon
Among tropical islands
They circled the globe
And made their home in the clouds.
