SAND DREAMS

by Virgilio A. Yuzon

I awake, and hear a crystal tune
Sail across the desert dune
Under the bloodstone moon
            Of some faraway land.

I build, out of the mystic strains,
Dazzling, crystalline domains
Never dreamt of by thanes
            Of the western land.

Out I reach to touch my dreams
Bathed in transparent moonlight streams;
But I can feel them melt it seems,
             From my eager hand.

For alas, I’m drugged; I weakly sway
And fall asleep into the glaring day,
And all my dreams are blown away,
             Like desert sand.
