HER NAME IS PEACE

by Eva Tabaosares Kohr

Conceived by those who still believe
In liberty and justice.
Once perceived, hard to achieve.
Like chasing rainbow, in dreams elusive.
Yet born of Love, her name is Peace.

Like the four seasons, she comes and goes.
Sometimes, she lingers, a little while
Longer. When friends and foes,
Lay down their arms. These are heroes
Who turn sorrows into smiles.

A child of war, sings of rainbow.
In straining refrain, and mopes.
And from dark desert sands, she tiptoes.
And sings back to him, of a brighter tomorrow.
And wraps him in threadbare shawl of hope.

Brother’s, we’re one. Let’s build bridges.
Not of straw but of love set in stone.
To withstand hatred’s malice.
To last for many ages.
And lure Peace safely home
